Analysis and Re-Engineering of Geometry and Aerodynamics of existing Turbomachinery Blades

Is it possible to analyze old, existing or deformed turbomachinery blades aerodynamics and subsequently improve them? This question is asked sometimes in the maintenance or repair of aircraft engines, power plants and industrial turbines. A new software tool allows an extremely accurate transfer of the scanned point by point blade surface in a parametric model. A detailed aerodynamic analysis of the blade is possible, at best, even without prior knowledge of the original design data.

Lack of development data can be a problem, such as for old aircraft engines if the manufacturer has no original data or old data sets are not available. The system is so powerful that sometimes even the original design principle of the blade can be disclosed. All the important geometrical parameters are then available again. A subsequent analysis of the aerodynamic blade or even a further improvement is possible.

Design-Software für Turbomaschinen-Aerodynamik

Die atech GmbH erweitert ihr Entwurfssystem für die Auslegung axialer Turbomaschinen. Das System besteht aus 3 Bausteinen für die Auslegung des thermodynamischen Prozesses, der Strömungsauslegung im sogenannten "Mittelschnitts-" und Mehrschnittverfahren sowie zur Berechnung und Optimierung der Schaufelgeometrie. Im aktuellen Newsletter 11/2010 werden die Neuerungen sowie Anwendungsbeispiele beschrieben.
